That is what he is trying to do with this CHGSMTPA MAILROUTER('outgoing.verizon.net') FIREWALL(*YES) but Verzion is not going to mail relay so this fails.
Not sure why he did not try my suggestion http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200406/msg00908.html It would allow him to signin to Verzion's SMTP server from the AS/400
