Hi Jim, The web site URL for the manufacturer of PlanetPress (Objectif Lune) is http://www.objectiflune.com. The software is well know in the data stream re-engineering and customization space and as far as I know the vendor is well respected for their product's capabilities. In terms of the PlanetPress server application running on the iSeries platform, it should be able to execute correctly on the IFS. I believe the current Version 4 of the PlanetPress software still prefers that the variable data being input into the server application be plain text without any printer formatting commands (I haven't tested this version so I can't comment directly). This means setting up an iSeries remote output queue using the QWPDEFAULT WSCST driver or using the Client Access AFP Viewer application to view a spool file and then bring just the text to a PC where it can be routed to the PlanetPress server application for processing. The only difficulty I have seen with the AFP Viewer option is that the software is sometimes unstable (frequently freezes up) when used under Windows 2000, Windows Xp, and Windows 2003. I'm not sure whether IBM has released an AFP Viewer refresh, as part of iSeries Access, that might improve the performance when installed into a current Microsoft operating system environment.
