Is that the one that takes the purple tapes or the black tapes?  I've had 
experience with both leading towards what you are talking about.  Let me 
know.

Hello All, 

We are starting to use a 3581 LTO-2 tape drive to back up 100gb of image 
files (3.7 million 50-60kb images) for a customer and we have noticed that 

this process takes about 8-9 hours. Backing up a small number of large 
files is much faster.

Does anyone here know if there is a way to tune the 3581 so that it will 
stream even when backing up large amounts of small files ?

Any input is appreciated.
