We noticed that when doing some backups in the IFS, we had converted the IFS to type-2 from type-1, and that made our backup significantly faster.

That isn't tuning the 3580, but I think you will see a difference.

Hello All,

We are starting to use a 3581 LTO-2 tape drive to back up 100gb of image files (3.7 million 50-60kb images) for a customer and we have noticed that this process takes about 8-9 hours. Backing up a small number of large files is much faster.

Does anyone here know if there is a way to tune the 3581 so that it will stream even when backing up large amounts of small files ?

Any input is appreciated.
