I believe you can configure "Port Forwarding" to allow public services on
your internal network. Once this is configured users from the Internet who
make certain requests (TELNET) on your router will be redirected to the IP
address you specify.

Subject: cable router

I have a customer that has cable internet access, a netgear cable router,
and an as400. Can the cable router be configured so that the as400 can be
accessed with telnet remotely? (This box is for development only.) Has
anyone done it?

I tried this once before but instead of a cable router the customer had MS
Proxy server and we couldn't get that to work. We ultimately bought a
firewall device.

Thanks in advance for your help. I hope to not waste too much time trying
to get something to work that can't work. ;-)

Phil
