Yes, I understand.  Which is why I suggested a pre-processor.  Essentially
write your very own DDS keyword; call it LIKEREC!  When you compile the DDS,
the pre-processor you write will read your source and when it sees LIIKEREC,
it will do the API call to get the length of the file, and place it in your
DDS.  You can automate the pre-processor call if you change your batch
subsystem routing entry to invoke your pre-processor (as a
