Y'all, I'm lost. The original question applied to interactive SQL, right? What is the context for the F4 idea? A signon screen? If I use TELNET to a 400 I don't see my password, whether from a DOS prompt or from a 400 command line. And F4 is not valid on that screen.

In interactive SQL, F4 on the password (USING) field gets me a message that it is not valid there either.

Or is the F4 the prompt for CONNECT TO? In that case, at V5R2, the password is in the clear, as Raul first stated, in the prompt. I'd consider that a bug, myself, but it's probably "as designed".

Or is it the prompt for TELNET? At V5R2, RMTPWD is in the clear when I enter it on the prompt. Same at V5R1. It's possible to define a command parameter so that input is hidden - again, it should be here and is not, IMO.

Just curious and a little yellow.

Michael,

Did that and it still shows clear as day. We are on V5R2...

I am staring telnet via a command line.

If your password is visible when using TELNET, press F4 before entering
the password.
