Well, IBM has DB2 Multisystem, which is option 27 of SS1. I saw a list price of $25,000. AFAIK, it makes multiple boxes look like one box, and data can be distributed around the systems, allowing parallelism of a type different from Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP). I found info by going to <www.iseries.ibm.com/software>.

I've never used, just been curious. Don't know if the license is an enterprise one, or whether you need to purchase licenses per processor.

All,
Does anyone know if there is a LICPGM that will support an SQL JOIN across
systems?

IOW:

 select * from AS4001.mylib.myfile a join AS4002.mylib.myfile b
   on a.field1 = b.field1
