Glad you fixed it already. That is a puzzling one. I'm especially wondering how the filename was allowed in the first place.
Did you try 'rm ?.?'? It seems to me it'd be a little safer than 'rm ???'. It should leave your 'tmp' and 'usr' directories alone.
