The folks in the boardrooms are turning to the geeks for answers, instead of turning to common sense... Some are more geek than others, and the geekiest may impress the *most*.. but frequently /don't even know the questions./ (In general, the answers are /defined by the question asked/perceived/...) Joe's thread on SSA is just the tip of the iceberg in business-as-usual today. (Most everybody on this list has some fair bit-a geek in them, I know, including m'self... But the pure gearhead (for example, prevalent in the academic community) kind is gonna lead decisions in the wrong direction, in most-all cases.)
