Rob,

No time for Jihads (and see you have bigger problems to deal with at the
moment, also, unfortunately)-;... But what would REALLY be a paradigm shift
would be for the VB, Java, etc person to adopt toolsets which don't crash
and have a well-thought-out UI. Sure NOT gonna claim that SEU is
start-of-the-art, since it hasn't been enhanced since the 80's. But it
excels and IS state-of-the-art in these two respects, in spite of that..
Which a lotta coders view as much MORE important than the (largely
counter-effective) bells-and-whistles you can get with the plethora of tools
available using the Windows and *nix paradigms. 'Course, "95% of the
computer industry" would argue otherwise, and they are welcome to continue
to develop software using their particular brand-a traditional approaches.
In my experience, and perhaps others, the Windows and *nix paradigms are
largely non-cost-effective, and a mouse is not the best (let alone only) way
to administer systems and develop code.

To steer away from Jihads, I think these choices have little to do with
sanity, and a lot to do with what methodology one has been steeped in the
most. That point has been used AGAINST those with a solid understanding of
400 fundamentals a LOT, but not been applied equally to those who favor the
Windows or *nix paradigms... Just another view of the situation, which
combines fact and opinion, 'course...

jt

| Welcome to the Jihad!
|
| CODE/400 handles this just fine. And I "think" Turnover does also.
|
| This is quite a paradigm shift from the traditional methodology for the
| iSeries developer. However, the VB, Java, etc person will probably think
| this is a return to sanity.
