Welcome to the Jihad!

CODE/400 handles this just fine. And I "think" Turnover does also.

This is quite a paradigm shift from the traditional methodology for the
iSeries developer. However, the VB, Java, etc person will probably think
this is a return to sanity.

This will require a change in most of the toolsets out there. Perhaps you
have a command called SCNSRC or some such thing?

This should increase the toolsets available. Now, instead of stuck with
IBM editors, (which have gotten quite nice), and a limited selection of
third party editors, you'll be open to a host of third party editors.

I've thought about using that here, but, as much as I am trying to
convince my coworkers to adopt some other new techniques, I think that one
might meet some rather stiff resistance. The withdrawals from the
emotional bank account might put me in the red rather quickly. Trying to
"pick my battles".

        Subject: Storing source in IFS?

I'm curious about using IFS for storing source. Anyone doing this, and how

does it work for you? What tells your editor (I assume CODE or WDSC) the
source type? Does RPG, e.g., get prompted correctly?

Obviously, one can't use SEU for this. What editors do y'all use?

I've not had reason to look very much at this yet. Are there any manuals
or
sites with failry comprehensive discussion of this, pros, cons, etc.?

Thanks

Vern
