RE: iSeries vs. Unix vs. SQL Server vs. Oracle

We run PeopleSoft on Oracle DB on Windows 2K here for corp and JDE World
& OneWorld on AS/400 for our clients.  Three ERPs; don't ask.  Anyway, a
little data:

Anyway, World & OneWorld both run on the same 400.  And for OneWorld,
that includes everything but the Deployment server.  Websphere,
enterprise, data, apps, whatever.  1300 users.  I spend about 8-12 hours
a week on 400 issues & management.  There are 2 developers and 2 app
specialists supporting both JDE packages.  We have a second 400 for
development & business continuity.

Our PeopleSoft environment is made up of 13 servers supporting about
4000 users.  The PeopleSoft team is about 6 people, not include systems
management (server admins).  Add more servers for business continuity.

Hi All,

I need some feedback from the user community with regards to the
platform we intend to run our business on.  

We are currently looking for a new ERP package to replace our current
one, and the company has narrowed the field to two choices:  One
iSeries-based, and one SQL Server-based.

Based on my experience, I have ALWAYS found the iSeries/400 to be more
reliable and more scalable than SQL Server...especially in enterprise
level tasks.

What have your experiences been with SQL Server?
How do you suggest I convince the non-tech people in the selection team?
Do you know of any good reference articles comparing the two platforms?

Earlier in the process, there were Unix & Oracle proposals too.  Both
have been sidelined for now, but feedback there would be nice as well.
