Not knowing Unix and how this #$% VM works is why we re-booted. An experienced person on this system may have know how to clear the log and reset the comm. card without the re-boot. How many people would re-boot an as400 because a twinax controller went haywire? There I know how to re-initialize just a card. Can it be done in Unix? I do not know, but I imagine I will be learning now that I have a Unix based VM. -----Original Message----- From: James Rich. If you had to reboot then it is a shortcoming of the OS. I don't care if you have an app that cranks out logs at speeds of TB/second, if it necessitates a reboot then the OS should be fixed. And that's true of every OS, even if it includes my personal favorite.
