Bob -- Zak has evangelized pretty the Net.Data thing; in fact I am going to try it one of these days! The suggestion about web-facing a "normal" app is a good one, although Websphere is not the easiest thing in the world to set up, and I understand it uses a fair amount of resources even when not running. However, to get started I would suggest that you use RPG and the free CGIDEV2 library from IBM to do this as a web program hosted on the AS/400. There is a tutorial and lots of examples. Surprisingly, it is a pretty straight-forward. Start with an inquiry program, then modify it to do maintenance. http://www-922.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/easy400 A mailing list for this stuff: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Easy400Group/ It runs on both of the provided web servers (HTTP Server and "powered by Apache"), and needs nothing else. There are procedures to setup the web server; it doesn't take long. Have fun! ------------------------------ From: "Bob Cagle" <bcagle@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: New Development Project - What to do it in?
