Booth, See inline, The VARPG package can be stored on the IFS and then have only a shortcut on the user's desktop. Very slim indeed. <ED> slim install, but dial-up users in would probably invent new four-letter-words to describe the performance. ODBC? I am not sure about that. I thought it was DDM with tcp/ip. In any event, I have no idea how to use or set up ODBC and have never configured it yet I use VARPG to access iSeries files regularly. If ODBC is used, its pretty well hiddedn. Performance is faster than I think of for ODBC. <ED> probably..... I haven't actually ever written a test app, so I'll concede this point. I know DDM over TCP/IP was not available the last time I looked at VARPG seriously, so maybe I just assumed that ODBC was the data access mechanism.
