Carl,

You can put it anywhere just set the SCSI address different than the other units. If your machine is NOT on maintenance then just hook it up and let it run. 'The Book' says you can't put more than one drive on the MFIOP but they do work. You won't get any IBM support but I've done it. You will have plenty of power connectors but I can't remember for sure if you'll have enough SCSI connectors or if you'll need to get a cable with more connectors.

For an extreme case of 'Not by the book' check out: http://www.frankenseries.com/gallery-frankie.html If anyone knows of other systems that are 'not by the book' let us know and we'll add you to 'the gallery'.

I have a model 400 that has a 7117 expansion unit on it. In the front bays
it has an 8mm drive (6390) in location 5, a CD ROM in location 6. Locations
7, 8 and 9 are empty. I would like to add a 6380 (2GB QIC) to the machine.
What drive location does it need to go in? (7, 8 or 9). Like a multiple
choice test!
