Thanks for the very quick responses.  Doug, your description was exactly as
my 400 is, as you say a very close cousin to your 40S.  The last line in
your email hit it on the head.... (need a 2624 IOP).  The box had a 2623 in
it, not a 2624.  But, of course I had a 2624 sitting in the part bin, so I
replace the card and the AS400 found it!

I am 2 for 2 today.  I posted 2 questions and received (correct) answers in
a matter of minutes.  This list is awesome.  Many thanks to all.  I wish I
could contribute as much as I take.

But I'm pretty sure you'll need a 2624, or other IOP controller, but then as
I recall it can support TAP02 and TAP03, although I only have TAP02
installed on it.
