I am curious about a package with field level security versus using either the field level security available in a physical file with V5, or with the more traditional method of securing people out of the physical and only allowing access via the various views you've created. Does one have to redefine all data to the tool? Or does one set up all of the inquiries and just tell the user to run those queries? If so, then what is the difference between, setting up Query/400 queries and locking them out of WRKQRY but not RUNQRY, and this (security wise)? Several years ago I worked with Showcase, and they had some of this built in. Are there other tools available that are recommended? tia jim franz _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
