In view of the fact that there are such diverse interpretations of what actually constitutes a relational database, are we perhaps at the stage where relational is a perception rather than a concept? When speaking to a ORACLE bigot, is it that person's concepts that are different, or their perception to which they have been trained?


Does relational refer to the way in which we interact with the database, or is it the way in which it manages itself?

I have many questions and statements regading this issue, but would not like to belabour this issue within this forum, as it may be inappropriate. Suffice it to say that DB2/400 has many strengths, yet those are often also its weaknesses!
