IMVHO, it is irresponsible of any school that teaches RPG not to teach the column method. It would be fine to touch on /free but in all reality, 1). How many shops are at V5R1 and using /free and 2) what about code that is more than 2 years old. Chances are that when a student leaves the school, they're gonna see the column code before they see /free. I think they are setting the student up to fail.
