I could be wrong, but it sounds like Jon is looking for a DTD or schema for the 5250 datastream, and a program to convert XML to 5250 using that DTD. I haven't had a chance to fool with XML, but it sounds pretty neat. It also sounds like the "XML-5250" converter could use DSM, but the driver programs don't care, only the converter program. We don't care necessarily where the XML came from, it sounds like Jon has that piece already. Did I miss anything? I think the confusion comes from not specifying where you get the initial description of the screen from. In the simplest case you don't have any prior screen You describe the screen in XML and that description drives a browser, a 5250 terminal, a PDA, what have you... The tool to do this is called a text editor. EDTF would work.
