Vern, Think of it this way. HTML is a SUBSET of XML, where the HTML tags are defined specifically for document presentation. XML is a general purpose format, where the meaning and validation characteristics of a tag are described in a DTD. I believe that there's an implementation of XML that is basically equivalent to standard HTML, tho I can't remember what it's called.
