The first time you do an upgrade is different from then on. The first time always do the cume first and IPL. The database and hiper groups on not on the same Cd's as the cume. They will, however, come in the same overnight package. There should be an additional Cd in there with both groups on it. You'll have to look carefully at the labels on the CD's and in the cume instructions itself to figure it out. Not on the first cume after an upgrade, but on cumes after that I would put on all group ptf's, then the cume, and only IPL after the cume. Now, I had always thought you were supposed to install the cume, and then the group PTFs (because the groups tended to come more often than the cume). However, IBM threw me a curve by saying that from C2134510 on, cumes would include the Database and HIPER group PTFs. Not only that, according to the documentation, you should apply any included groups BEFORE you apply the cume. The best I can read from this is that I'm supposed to install the Database and HIPER groups prior to the cume, then the cume, then the other groups. NOt only that, I should IPL after the cume install. 1. Database/HIPER 2. Cume 3. (IPL) 4. Other groups (Java, HTTP, etc.) 5. (IPL) What do you all think?
