Ouch! Does anyone have more knowledge about this one? (IBMer?) My standard operating procedure when I walk in the door at a location where I'll be doing an upgrade or DR or other work is to set up an hourly support contract immediately, if they are not on Supportline already. Myself, I have 24x7 Supportline (expensive, but worth it), but for many shops who own big machines, this is a large expense and they have elected not to have it. For years, the "hourly" option has been kinda hush-hush around IBM, but has always been available, if you ask for it. If anyone knows more, please let us know. I have to assume that this is just more "hush-hush" and if IBM were cancelling this option, someone would have received a letter. TIA ----------snip------------- From: "Diana Hicks" <DianaH@jupiter.fl.us> Subject: Software Maintenance announcement ends Hourly Support Line? I'm assuming the Software Maintenance announcement is the end to the hourly Support Line contract (based on the NEWS Wire Daily -- January 21, 2003 article). If that is the case, we are going to have a large budget increase when management is pressuring us to reduce maintenance costs. Currently, we budget $2000 for Support Line and usually spend less than $600 (typically in off-hours). Is anyone else concerned about this announcement increasing the maintenance costs?
