He upset me too and I'm not IBM.  
 
It was a gratuitous insult with no foundation in fact and serving no purpose
  In just a few words he slapped the faces of Buell Duncan, Al Zoeller, and
the thousands of people making the iSeries better and better every day.  
 
I still say that maintaining steady revenues is a work of pure genius when
you are working in a market that's seen prices drop by 50% every 18 months
for the last 30+ years and that expects the trend to continue for the next
30 years.  If you want to walk back along the highway and see the littered
bodies of big firms that couldn't make it in the computer business, start
with Digital, Compaq, Wang, and AT&T.
 
The iSeries is a niche machine.  Always was, always will be.
