As I understand it, a hub is a broadcast device - the packets go to
everybody connected.

A switch is more intelligent - packets go to where they are pointed - on a
4-port switch there can be 2 simultaneous, non-contentious conversations at
the same time.

Is that the case, Justin?  A hub causes that much congestion?

The reason I got a switch is that it automatically converts between old
(10MB) hardware and my 100MB network.
