I would say that it's the lack of the OS that memory leaks are possible.



Any system that is properly administered should have good uptime. One of
the
problems with Windows systems is the wide variety of third-party software.
It's nice to have the choices available, but you're also subjected to
different programming abilities. Different levels of software 'wellness'
can
cause problems such as memory leaks or  privileged instructions/memory
conflicts.
