While the program runs they only reflect the internal *INUx variable inside the program. In RPG II, we used an IBM provided assembler subroutine (SUBR20) to read / write the status of Ux switches *while* a program was running. I believe there was a counterpart available for the S36EE where you called an IBM supplied program instead. But it probably just grabs the current job switches and returns them. You could do the same with an API or even a CL which used RTVJOB. Doug
