Okay, what you describe is exactly what I'm trying to do - I have an HP
printer with a card similar to a JetDirect. I created an output queue and
assigned an IP address to it and setup a few other parameters and then did a
STRRMTWTR on the outq. When I move spool files to the outq, it prints.
Except, I can't get the job separators to print. So, you're telling me to
"move back to the source system" but I only have the one system. Also, I
can't specify the SEPPGM parameter that Al was talking about because I don't
have a device description, only an outq and there's no place to specify it.

In a pure iSeries environment, it works like that. But if your remote outq
is actually directed to a printer (say, and HP printer with a JetDirect
card), or to anything else (non-iSeries) runnning LPR, then there's no
remote outq (per se) involved. Then it's up to the printer to do what's
necessary... and if it can't, then you'll have to move back to the source
system....

That is what the utility from QUSRTOOL that Al referred to did. It added
the separator page to the job stream when streaming the data to the printer
(or the remote queue, if you like).

The remote outq is simply a way to redirect a spooled file from an outq on
your machine to an outq on another machine. At that point, the handling of
the spooled file is up to the remote machine. Unless I'm mistaken, to
change the characteristics of how that machine works, you'd have to log on
to that machine, find the printer associated with the output queue, and
change its SEPPGM parameter.
