Now that's interesting.  I would think any power surge would hit the first
protector in line and then continue on to the second if the first provided
insufficient protection.  Why would the surge skip both?  It's been a while
since I studied electrical current flow (over twenty years, I believe), but
I'm fairly certain the current cannot simply skip protection unless there is
a route of lesser resistence than the surge protector.  Since the nature of
surge protectors is to prevent current over a certain level from continuing,
I doubt such a route exists.

Please enlighten me as I am most curious.

get more/better protection, it turns the combo into just an extension cord.
