It is very possible to make apps that are portable between Linux and Windows. Liek I said before, Kylix/Delphia is a good example of it. As long as you stick to cross platform code (no interfacing low level OS APIs), code written will compile Native for Windows in Delphi or Native for Linuzx in Kylix. The way it does this is it uses QT libraries.... for Widnwos and Linux. Trolltech makes windowing libraries that run on a lot of OSes. This way your GUI calls are the exact same no matter what OS you are running on. You just have to have the appropriate qt libraries installed.
