The vendor has had 3 ownership changes and 4 bankruptcies in the last 12 years. If nobody answers the phone when the customer needs a license for a new machine, what are they supposed to do? I know that IBM has the capability to keep the serial number the same on a new box ( I just saw one that had migrated up to an 820 from an F10 for the exact reason we are discussing), but this is almost more trouble than it is worth.
