My comment concerning 'raw' for the remote print queue is not correct.
I read the rest of the thread and saw that this printer is attached to a
PC and not directly on the network.  As Syd has suggested, you need an
LPD/LPR client on the PC where the printer is attached.  I suppose you
could also do this with Client Access.  Mochasoft has an LPD/LPR client
that works well with the AS400 (I think for $25).  I have also used
NIPrint from Network Associates.

I just found out that:

a) Printer is directly attached to a PC, no "little boxes" in between.
b) On the IBM documents, the equivalent for the HP DeskJet 970Cxi is the
HP500 on the MFRTYPMDL parameter.

I did ENDWTR and STRRMTWRT again, but nothing happened.
I did turned off / on the printer, but nothing happened.

I will keep on trying...
