Hi all I have what is hopefully a simple question for those more versed in the performance tools measurement than I am: How is the count of transactions and the average response value for client access calculated on the workload report ? My goal is to create a couple of simple graphs showing transactions and response time as an average per day over the course of a month, and also as an average for each hour during the day. Ideally I woudl like to break this up to correspond to the Performance report and have it report the same numbers (I want an IBM report to be able to assist in validating my reporting) I have used the various flags in the QAPMJOBS file to try and work backwards but have not been able to duplicate the client access number which seems to be consistently "1" on the systems I manage. Even an IBM document I located which referenced the bit operators in the flags did not help me solve this. I can quite readily get the interactive numbers and duplicate the response calculations but the client access formula has thus far eluded me. My best guess is that this is a hangover from when SNA client access connections were more common. Now that telnet is more commonly used the "1" is used when there is a value in the "lines printed" part of the report for client access jobs, but no actual interactive sessions have connected via SNA. This makes sense to me as I seem to recall that PC support was often slower than twinax so separating it makes sense This begs the question - where do the report lines come from, but as I don't need to understand that yet I can live without the answer although I'd be highly interested. I'm guessing that it could also include lines downloaded as I do not have (to my knowledge) any client access printers on one system that reports lines printed unless Netserver counts as a printer. Any comments or suggestions will be much apreciated. regards Evan Harris
