Ken: It is fairly easy to put an asynch modem on the NT server and install
and configure RAS so that you can dial into the RAS server and make a
connection to the network. The only cost is buying the modem to put on the
NT server.

Once you have a connection to the network, you can start your AS/400
terminal emulation via TCP/IP by specifying either the host name or the IP
address of the AS/400.

Personally, I use Rumba 2000. I have always thought that Rumba was one of
the most stable emulation products for the AS/400. It also has file
transfer capabilities somewhat comparable to Client Access, but I don't use
Rumba file transfer much.

Steve
The /400 used for development is a resource on an NT4 server.
and is connected to this network.
How might I connect to this network remotely via phone?. Cost is a concern,
and we don't want to have to
put the remotes on ISPs.
Thanks
Ken

I need more information before I can intelligently answer your question.
Please elaborate by posting your answers to these questions on the forum...

Is dial-up to the AS/400 your only option?

Does the remote AS/400 have an ethernet adapter on it and if so, is it
connected to a network? If so, is there an NT or W2K server at this site
that is connected to the same?

One fairly easy way to set up dial-up access to the AS/400 is to set up a
RAS connection to the server in order to get an IP address on the network,
then use Client Access or some other 5250 emulation product to start a
session on the AS/400 through the network...
