With all due respect, No. Only with models 6XX did OS/400 become a standard part of the hardware, and then still LPPs need to be licensed. The person with a model 510 will have to either purchase software subscription, or purchase the "upgrade" from IBM. Although software subscription may seem like a waste, and the model 510 is destined to become a boat anchor, it can be transferred to a newer model. As you examine your options, it may be less expensive to buy a smaller, cheaper, more powerful newer model, and lower your software tier from P30 to P05.
