Hello Leif, I think you are mistaken there: IE and NS are not compliant to the W3C HTML standard, as they have added their own tags or parameters on the tags. This stupid browser war has brought that on. Ans as an aside note: MS will only abide to the standards thet themselves create, though their "standards" are not standards at that time.
