× The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

I think you are mistaken there: IE and NS are not compliant to the W3C HTML
standard, as they have added their own tags or parameters on the tags.

===> true that they have added their own tags. The difference is that
MS at least does support the standard tags while NS does not.
I am (have) supporting several web sites and struggle with this often.
