Is the wrapped text only blanks? I can't tell if the end-of-record bytes
are getting stripped. Does each row start at the right place, just that
there is extra space inbetween? Or is the alighment off? The former
suggests that ASC copies the spooled file to a datafile of some fixed, long
length. The latter suggests that something is wrong with EOR characters.

Do you have a product like textpad that lets you look at the text file in hex?
