Thanks to Eric, Steve, Andy and others for your replies. Andy, Yes this is a sizable machine and from what I can tell, with some added memory, it should be able to support WebSphere for my testing and education. It doesn't have an internal tape drive but does have the controller to support an external tape drive (it was using a 3570 which they are keeping). They are offering the system to me for $10K which seems like a good value given the software included. Thanks again, Brian -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Andy Nolen-Parkhouse Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2002 7:28 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Buying 170 - What's it worth, what's it missing? Brian, The configuration you posted is a sizable machine, well-suited for running green-screen applications for fifty or so workstations. I don't know its value on the market but I would guess higher than you would want to spend for your personal use. The software licenses have some value. In looking at the configuration, it looks like you've got lots of communications and networking, but no tape. Perhaps I missed it, but I don't see an internal QIC drive, nor do I see a controller card for an external drive. Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse
