There's a scurity issue here to be aware of. From the QAUTOVRT help text: >Note: Be aware of the following security consideration with this system >value. The number of sign-on attempts allowed at remote devices increases >when QAUTOVRT is greater than 0. The number of attempts allowed through >pass-through is QAUTOVRT multiplied by the maximum number of sign-on >attempts (the system value >QMAXSIGN). The point is that, with QMAXSIGN of 3, the device gets disabled after that many failed attempts. But the user (say, Client Access) can shutdown the connection and reconnect. He/she will get another device created and have QMAXSIGN attempts available. Check out the Tips & Tools for Securing Your AS/400 manual for more info. There, e.g., it says to set this to a non-zero value until you have enough virtual devices (QPADEV****), then turn it off. The devices do not go away.
