Jim I can recall getting rid of this behaviour at one stage by loading the latest database group PTF. It was explained to me that there was some optimization of the saving of the query access plan in the query definition object in the latest PTF's. The files in question causing the problem were all logicals files over a monster of a file if thats any help to you. Depending on when you last upgraded your OS, and what cume and group cume level you are on this may seem a rather useless answer but it did do the job in my case :) I can't even remember what release it was - V4R3, V4R4 or V4R5.
