Hmmm... actually, I went and checked before replying to this and now I'm more 
confused. Quoted from the Work Management guide:

"Note:  If the date and time have already occurred when the system is powered 
down or the system is running when the date and time occur, no IPL is 
performed."

>From that, the condition was 'the system is running'.

But, the note continues:

"...After the date/time IPL occurs, the value of QIPLDATTIM is changed to 
*NONE. It is not changed to *NONE unless the IPL occurs."

The last statement seems to contradict Matt's symptom of being set to *NONE.

Maybe different VRMs, different PTFs, etc., have slightly different behavior.

In short, overall, I think the GO POWER option is better in this case.
