Is it possible that you haven't been using it when you should? Instead of trying to figure things out the hard way why not call the support line earlier? It may get to the point where they try to duck your calls to a Consult line contract. I used to call on OV/400 merge document questions, Query questions, etc. I don't call on a lot of questions in this genre anymore but I always found the people to be very helpful. It's a rare two weeks that I don't open at least one support line call. Even if I do occasionally get the answer like 'change your target release from *prv' as to why a V5R1 function didn't work.
