I am beginning to agree with you. Is this a transition to a future release or is this going to be a permanent thing? Hopefully that Op's Nav is an indicator of things to come. Or do I need to submit a Design Change Request? http://makeashorterlink.com/?M1EE2245 http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.nsf/1ac66549a21402188625680b0002037e/3ca7d5dfc681aa86862565c500526323?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,5314847 Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Based on the options on the GRANT statement in sql (as of V5R1) you can grant update rights at field level but you can only grant select rights at file level. Are you sure that field-level security includes read? Based on what you're seeing in OpsNav I think is does NOT. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com
