Dare,

It's a personal preference thing.  I've always viewed SQL as a data
access language and not a query tool.  I understand your point; it's one
of the many valid views of the two tools.  Sensible people will have
different takes.

I'm not a full-time developer myself.  If I was, I would probably make
the effort to learn to use SQL safely and efficiently and forgo
Query/400 entirely.  It's probably more the learning curve that I
haven't overcome, so I can support your desire to get both.
