Adam,
Will you or somebody in I.S. have to do this or will the enduser be able to
do it?

We are doing an EDI project right now.

We are going live on Commercial Auto in New York in January. NY DMV
requires all changes to policies to be updated via EDI within 7 days of
modification.

We contracted IBM to write a C middleware program that grabs the appropriate
data and saves it to a file on the AS/400. We have a PC that can go to the
directory where the file is via Netserver. The PC will pull down the file
everyday and the ProEDI software program (we went that route because it was
$2K for the windows version as opposed to 10K for the Linux version or 25K
for the AS/400 version) will massage the data, connect to NY DMV and send
the data up, as well as check the mailbox for any incoming requests they
have.

The IBM people we have working on it are VERY good. My super and I are
thoroughly impressed. They even gave us the choice of 3 different languages
we could of had the program written in. Plus, IBM had to read the NY DMV
EDI specs and understand it all. We couldn't helpthem on that end. Mucho
Kudos to IBM.
