Hate to have to key in all my users<ugh> You need valid users to enable user-level security. When an SMB client connect to a server the userid and password are sent. If the share being connected to requires authentication then samba needs to know how to authenticate them. Chances are high that samba in the PASE environment knows nothing about AS/400 users. So you would probably have to enter in the users who want to access secure shares. But a public share doesn't require authentication. James Rich james@eaerich.com
