Someone mumbled something about ICF and CPI-C... the main difference is that ICF does everything with EXCPT to output specs; CPI-C via program calls. And as far as how complicated communication programs are... well, it's a lot of detail, but not hard to understand. Imagine a typical phone call: Pick up receiver / listen for dial tone / dial / called party says hello this is fred / this is bob / hi bob / I have a message for you / let's hear it / .... Communication programs do the same thing, but with the assortment of program calls or EXCPTs. Then, once you have a basic program running, you go back and add another layer of detail for error monitoring, etc. Lost of detail, but once you have a single program working, you just clone it!
